Terms of Use
The rules for using BLCKOUT. Using the app means you agree to them.
1. Using BLCKOUT
BLCKOUT is for keeping Nights with people you know. Nights are private and invite only, and there’s nothing public to browse.
Use BLCKOUT only in ways these terms and the law allow.
2. Your account
- You must be 18 or older to use BLCKOUT.
- Use an email address you can get to, and keep your password to yourself.
- You’re responsible for what’s done with your account.
- Pick a username that doesn’t pretend to be someone else and isn’t offensive. BLCKOUT can refuse a username that breaks this.
3. Nights and invitations
- The person who starts a Night is its host.
- Anyone with a Night’s code, QR code or invite link can join while it’s open to new members, so share it only with people you want there.
- A host can close the Night to new members, close capture early, and remove people. Removing someone gives the Night a new code.
- You can be in one active Night at a time, and you can leave any Night you didn’t start.
4. Your Moments
Your Moments are yours. When you add one, you let BLCKOUT store it and show it to the people in that Night, as Privacy describes.
Only add Moments you have the right to share, and think about the people in them before you do.
5. Other people’s Moments
Moments in a Night belong to the people who added them. Don’t share someone else’s Moments outside BLCKOUT without their agreement.
6. What’s not allowed
Don’t use BLCKOUT to:
- harass, bully, threaten or intimidate anyone
- share sexual content of anyone without their agreement, or any sexual content involving someone under 18
- post hate speech or encourage violence
- share someone’s private information or images without their agreement
- send spam or mislead people
- get around Hidden Mode, a block or the limits on joining Nights, or interfere with how BLCKOUT works
- do anything illegal
There’s no tolerance on BLCKOUT for objectionable content or abusive users. Moments that break these rules are taken down, and you can block anyone who is abusive.
7. Reporting and blocking
If something breaks these rules, report it from the Night: touch and hold a Moment, or tap the people in the Night. Reports go to the people who run BLCKOUT, not to the host or the person you report.
Reports are reviewed by the people who run BLCKOUT within 24 hours.
You can block someone from a Night you’re in. You won’t see each other’s Moments, and you can’t be in a new Night together.
8. Removing content
BLCKOUT can take down a Moment that breaks these terms. Hosts can remove people from their Night, but they can’t remove other people’s Moments or see sealed ones early.
9. Changes and availability
Features may change, and BLCKOUT may sometimes be unavailable, for example while it’s being updated.
10. The app
Use BLCKOUT as it’s meant to be used. Don’t copy, sell or reverse engineer the app, its name or its design.
11. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time in More, under Account. Privacy explains what’s removed and what’s kept.
12. Contact
BLCKOUT is run by Tyran Johnston, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
